Highly chromium contaminant tolerant BaO infiltrated La0.6Sr0.4Co0.2Fe0.8O3-δ cathodes for solid oxide fuel cells.
A BaO infiltrated La0.6Sr0.4Co0.2Fe0.8O3-δ (LSCF) cathode shows remarkable tolerance and resistance towards chromium via the formation of BaCrO4 instead of SrCrO4 on the electrode surface, preventing the excess Sr deficiency at the A-site of LSCF perovskite and thus mitigating the Cr poisoning effect.

Recent worldwide interest in building a decentralized, hydrogen-based energy economy has refocused attention on the solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) as a potential source of efficient, environmentally friendly, fuel-versatile electric power. Due to its high operating temperature, the SOFC offers several potential advantages over polymer-based fuel cells, including reversible electrode reactions, lo...
متن کاملNew Rhenium-Doped SrCo1−xRexO3−δ Perovskites Performing as Cathodes in Solid Oxide Fuel Cells
In the aim to stabilize novel three-dimensional perovskite oxides based upon SrCoO3-δ, we have designed and prepared SrCo1-xRexO3-δ phases (x = 0.05 and 0.10), successfully avoiding the competitive hexagonal 2H polytypes. Their performance as cathode materials in intermediate-temperature solid oxide fuel cells (IT-SOFC) has been investigated. The characterization of these oxides included X-ray ...
متن کاملNb5+-Doped SrCoO3−δ Perovskites as Potential Cathodes for Solid-Oxide Fuel Cells
SrCoO3-δ outperforms as cathode material in solid-oxide fuel cells (SOFC) when the three-dimensional (3C-type) perovskite structure is stabilized by the inclusion of highly-charged transition-metal ions at the octahedral positions. In a previous work we studied the Nb incorporation at the Co positions in the SrCo1-xNbxO3-δ system, in which the stabilization of a tetragonal P4/mmm perovskite sup...
متن کاملNovel Mn1.5Co1.5O4 spinel cathodes for intermediate temperature solid oxide fuel cells.
Mn(1.5)Co(1.5)O(4) spinel oxide as a cathode or one component of a composite cathode presents no visible reaction with an Y(2)O(3)-stabilized ZrO(2) electrolyte. The low electrode polarization resistances and good performance compared with traditional Sr-doped LaMnO(3)-YSZ composite cathodes imply promising application for the next generation of intermediate-temperature solid oxide fuel cells.
